My Experience

In 2014, I had been invited to photograph a wedding at Milwaukee's Historical Center on behalf of another photography studio.

Due to this agreement - sadly I have limited images available from this event, but I'll share my experience!

Jillian and her bridesmaids got ready just down the road at the gorgeous Arts Hotel on Kilborne Ave. With tall ceilings, and beautiful arched windows, it was a photographers dream backdrop for getting ready photos.

Jillian & Derek decided to do a first look outside the venue along Milwaukee's River Walk. This helped with the timeline of their day, so that they could get all their photos done ahead of time, have a later ceremony and enjoy cocktail hour with their guests before the reception started.

It was a gorgeous, sunny summer day in Wisconsin, and their wedding party was waiting in the distance so that we could all visit some local establishments for photo opportunities along the river.

First stop was Ugly's on Old World 3rd Street - an industrial bar that had a significance in the couples love story together.

After that, we headed down along the Milwaukee Riverwalk Way, stopping at a few interesting spots to get some full group wedding party photos, and individual photos of the bride and groom together. The history in this part of Milwaukee is rich. With cream city brick buildings mixed in with more modern looking architecture, gardens along the riverwalk and photo-interesting alley ways - there isn't a lack of opportunities for great wedding photography in this area of Milwaukee.

Once back at the Historcial Center, guests had begun arriving and finding their seats in the main level area for the ceremony.

The wedding party came up the center stair case from the lower level, and processed to the bank vault opening, where the ceremony itself took place.

After a tear filled vow exchange, Jillian & Derek had family photos done, and then enjoyed cocktail hour with their family and friends both inside and outside the venue.

Their reception took place on the mezzanine level, where the tables were decorated with their travel themed centerpieces and favors.

Following dinner and desert, the lower level had been cleared for the dance floor providing an incredible backdrop for some gorgeous first dance photos.
