We were running out of daylight as it was, add to it the fact that it had been raining all day, and we were offered a break in the weather for a short hour or so before the sun completely disappeared. But that didn't stop us from carrying out our plans to get these engagement photos done so they could make their save the dates.
At Petrifying Springs park, there is a spot with a small grouping of very tall pine trees. I love the look of shooting through trees, or having the repetitive rows of trees in the scene, but you can't really get that out if this bunch of trees. So I had to come up with something different. As mentioned, the sun was almost completely gone with thick grey clouds, and minutes from sunset - but between the rich green trees, was a little spot light of daybreak shining down. I put my couple in that patch of light, and with her yellow shirt and blond hair - they popped in this photo. I just love the contrast, coupled with her beautiful emotion as someone must have said something funny.
